Fantasy Sports Locker Room takes a closer look at last night’s Fantasy Baseball News, Notes and Injuries from around the majors – Twitter style.
Mark Teixeira and Troy Tulowitzki cashed in with the big Fantasy Baseball night with two home runs each.
FANTASY UPDATE: @Yankees Mark Teixeira has gone deep TWICE tonight with his 16th & 17th of the season.

Mark Teixeira‘s 37th multi-HR game breaks a tie with Carlos Beltran for 3rd place all-time among switch hitters. — Katie Sharp (@ktsharp) July 10, 2014
Tulo, just feeling it this season. The shortstop has a ridiculous .433 batting average at Coors Field.

It was Kevin Kiermaier with the Fantasy Baseball stat line of the night, though. Chances are you don’t own him.
4-for-4, 1 R, 4 RBIs and a granny. Have a day, @KKiermaier39: http://t.co/O3Zv9ZKgMf pic.twitter.com/8gz2axJDeS — #FinalVote (@MLB) July 10, 2014
#Rays Kiermaier first rookie on record (since 1914) to have 4 hits and slam from No. 9 spot. Last non-rookie, #Indians A. Cabrera 4-18-09
— Marc Topkin (@TBTimes_Rays) July 10, 2014
I actually rostered Kiermaier in an 18-man league for a week or so…He didn’t have nights like that. Owned in 5 percent of Y! leagues. Number may rise 1 or 2 percent, don’t contribute to that number. Great ball player, with a solid .297 average, but not what your Fantasy Baseball roster needs. Maybe soon, though.
Kevin Kiermaier is slugging .568 in 156 plate appearances with the #Rays. His Minor League slugging percentage: .398. — Adam Berry (@adamdberry) July 10, 2014
It took some time, but Manny Machado had started to play good ball before serving a five game suspension and the time off didn’t seem to bother him…
Manny Machado goes 3-4 with a HR. He now has 5 HR in his last 8 games after hitting only 4 HR in his first 50 games this season
— ESPN Stats & Info (@ESPNStatsInfo) July 10, 2014
Over his last 32 games, Manny Machado is hitting .315 with 8 doubles, 7 HR, 15 RBIs. #Orioles #GottaBeTheSalsa — Eduardo A. Encina (@EddieInTheYard) July 10, 2014
Manny Machado finally playing up to his potential, and all it took was a disgraceful meltdown and a well-earned suspension
— Jay Jaffe (@jay_jaffe) July 10, 2014
Some say they don’t believe his doubles will turn into home runs…I am not one of them. I believe he is well on his way to becoming one the greatest in the game today, with POP!
Manny Machado’s next hit will be the 300th of his career. He’s 9-for-17 in his last 3 games #orioles — Roch Kubatko (@masnRoch) July 9, 2014
FINALLY, Eric Hosmer starting to come around.
Eric Hosmer with 6 walks on the road trip and has hit in all 9 games. @Royals
— Dave Holtzman (@DHoltzy) July 10, 2014
Eric Hosmer destroys a 92-mph fastball from Alex Cobb. 1-0, Royals. — Andy McCullough (@McCulloughStar) July 9, 2014
A .327 batting average with a .421 on base percentage over Hosmer’s last two weeks. He only has 4 RBI and one home run over that span which came last night, but he’s seeing the ball a lot better and should be able to fill out the other Fantasy Baseball categories in the second half of the season. Let’s not forget how good he was in last year’s second half. The 4th best in Fantasy!
Dillon Gee looks sharp in his first start back from a two-month DL stint. He’s faced the minimum through two, with 28 pitches. #Mets
— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) July 9, 2014
Dillon Gee not showing rust in his return; three scoreless innings, working efficiently. — Mike Puma (@NYPost_Mets) July 9, 2014
FINAL: the @Mets defeat the Braves 4-1. Dillon Gee: 7 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K Travis d’Arnaud: 1-3, 2-run HR #WhipAround
— FOX Sports: MLB (@MLBONFOX) July 10, 2014
most under-rated pitcher in bigs? could be dillon gee.#mets — Jon Heyman (@JonHeymanCBS) July 10, 2014
I think he might be…
#Mets Dillon Gee is 13-6 with 202 IP, 2.72 ERA, 1.114 WHIP, & 6.15 K/9 over his last 30 starts, he returns from the disabled list tonight.
— Ace of MLB Stats (@AceballStats) July 9, 2014
There is a chance, owners in your Fantasy Baseball league forgot about this guy because he’s been out for two months. If so, grab him. 33 percent owned in Y!
Kole Calhoun has a HR every 22 PA. Has 10 HR on the YR, would clear 30 over a full/healthy season. 44 R over 55 GP with an .876 OBP. — Chris Meaney (@chrismeaney) July 10, 2014
Just another home run for Kole Calhoun. 65 percent owned in Y! now. Don’t count on him slowing down, kid can hit. Plus, it really had been hard for Mike Trout, Albert Pujols or Josh Hamilton to fail hitting him home.
INJURIES
A few injuries around the bigs…
INJURY REPORT: Yadier Molina left the game in the bottom of the 3rd inning with a right thumb sprain. Will be re-evaluated tomorrow.
— St. Louis Cardinals (@Cardinals) July 10, 2014
Yadier Molina sliding into third base…

Billy Hamilton grabbing his leg in the batters box…
Billy Hamilton left the game with tight left hamstring, Phillips left with sprained left thumb. X-rays negative on Phillips. #Reds — ctrent (@ctrent) July 10, 2014
Oh right Brandon Phillips plays baseball…That was rude of me! Injuries piling up in Cinci.
#BlueJays DH Adam Lind out 6-8 weeks w/ fractured foot. Good chance Dan Johnson (.884 OPS, 17 HR, 78 BB, 67 K in AAA) gets the call.
— Jason Martinez (@mlbdepthcharts) July 10, 2014
#BlueJays first it was Brett Lawrie, then Edwin Encarnacion now Adam Lind out 6-8 weeks…yikes unfair…just ask #Rockies #Rangers #Injuries — JIM BOWDEN (@JimBowdenESPNxm) July 10, 2014
The latest on Masahiro Tanaka…
Masahiro Tanaka is flying to Seattle to see Dr. Christopher Ahmad. There is a conference there being attended by all the top orthopedics.
— Bryan Hoch (@BryanHoch) July 10, 2014
And it looks like Alex Gordon is done until after the All-Star break.
Ned Yost says he is now confident Alex Gordon can avoid the DL with a cortisone shot. He does not expect Gordon to play against Detroit. — Andy McCullough (@McCulloughStar) July 10, 2014
Alex Gordon expects to undergo an MRI tomorrow in Kansas City. He injured himself sliding in Cleveland. “I can’t swing,” he said.
